I recently visited a birding hide a couple of times, and it was an interesting experience. I am not a birder – I prefer mammals – but it was fun to shoot the entertaining and charismatic feathered creatures as they went through their antics.

The Oriental white eyes were funny creatures to follow, and they reminded me of commuters in Mumbai locals. Jerdon’s leafbirds (adult and juvenile), barbetts, munias, woodpeckers, doves, bulbuls, flower peckers, sunbirds, robins, and ashy prinias paid a visit too.

A few tips: 1. Put Odomos 2. Stay silent, avoid moving 3. Wear light clothes, it can get stuffy 4. Try to have a sense of what’s happening, beyond the tunnel vision through the viewfinder.

Sharing a few photos.
